IFFAS Third Triennial Scientific Meeting held September 2008 in Costa do Sauipe, Brazil

The triennial meeting of the IFFAS brings together orthopaedic foot and ankle specialists from all corners of the globe. The 3rd joint IFFAS meeting, held September 17-20, was no exception and attracted 620 registrants for scientific exchange at the beautiful Costa do Sauípe in Bahia, Brazil.

A total of 96 papers were presented from the podium and attendees had opportunity to view 190 e-posters and visit with exhibitors, including AOFAS representatives who were kept busy responding to attendee questions about AOFAS programs and International Membership. The Takakura Prize, named in honor of and given by IFFAS founder Yoshinori Takakura, MD, was awarded to Dr. Sérgio Damião Prata, Brazil, for his paper: Radiological evaluation of the rheumatic foot. The award recognizes the best clinical paper presented at the meeting. The Giannini Prize, the president’s award given for the best research paper at the meeting, went to James Brodsky, MD, USA, for his paper: A prospective gait analysis of patients before and after ankle replacement. The award is named in honor of the current IFFAS president.Thank you to the following for a successful meeting.
